Changeloom.Childrights is a fellowship program that helps youth to build their leadership skills and strengthen their on-ground work on child rights, and social inclusion, through learning workshops, individual mentoring, networking, and advocacy.

What are the main benefits of the program?

Synergy Sansthan supports young and enthusiastic individuals in broadening their understanding of issues, building their leadership skills, thinking through their project ideas, and helping them prepare a realistic plan of action. The program leads to the creation of a cadre of well-rounded, socially motivated youth change leaders who will be able to positively influence children and other youth in the communities of the Harda district. It is a journey of young individuals taking leadership and initiating social change around them, benefiting the community at large. The fellowship offers financial assistance to the fellows. Post the fellowship, most of the fellows are able to work further on their ideas and develop their enterprises. Some fellows also opt to either go for higher education or get a job in the development sector.

Fellowship Journey

Changelooms is a 12-month long committment and the fellows are expected to dedicate at least 10 days in a month on their project ideas.
Apart from three major workshops at the start (5-day workshop), mid (4-day workshop) and end of the fellowship (2-day workshop), the fellows will have to attend Monthly Review Meetings. Along with that, all pairs will be appointed one mentor who will be in regular conversation with them through calls or visits and will assist them in developing their project ideas.

Antima grew up in a family that, to this day, believes in the superiority of the males over females. She has observed and been subjected to gender based discrimination in her formative years. The “Umang: Colours of life” project aims to promote child rights through expressive use of painted and drawn art. Antima intend to ensure that irrespective of caste, colour, religion and financial status, every family and child they reach out to can be made aware of the constitutional rights of children.

Suruchi comes from an environment where she had to compromise on the basic essentials of a happy and healthy life, including studies, outfits, sometimes even her dreams. She is an NSS Volunteer and is pursuing graduation from L.B.S. College, Harda while living with her family including her four siblings. She leverage the power and the reach of social media to raise awareness about Girl Child Rights using workshops and seminars that they intend to conduct in the reachable localities under the project “Because…She is a Girl”.

Ravi is a young Changeloomer hailing from the village Handiya, currently pursuing higher studies at the Adarsh College, Harda. He truly believes that children are the citizens of tomorrow and thus the future of the nation. Through “Dhawak”, Ravi intends to use sports as a medium to raise awareness about gender based discrimination against girls, especially in sports. He aims to promote health, fitness, and physical education in young children through sports while using the platform to raise awareness about child rights.

Ganesh has been an active volunteer of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, promoting kabaddi as a sport and a means of mobilization in rural areas.
